Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 4, 2023, and permission granted on May 1, 2023, to meet while the House is in session for the remainder of the session, the House Committee on General Investigating met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Murr, at 1:46 p.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Murr; Johnson, Ann; Geren; Longoria; and Spiller.
A quorum was present.
Representative Spiller offered the following in writing:
Mr. Chairman:
Pursuant to Rule 4, Section 21(a), of the House Rules of Procedure, and Section 301.024 (a), Government Code, I move as follows in connection with MATTER B:
(1) The issuance of a subpoena is authorized to ROBERT ROE #1 to provide all relevant testimony and information concerning the committee's inquiry
(2) The committee chair is directed to issue the process authorized by this motion in a form acceptable to the chair. The committee chair may issue one or more subpoenas for a part or portion of any relevant testimony or information as necessary to avoid overburdening a witness or the committee.
(3) The committee chair is authorized to appoint, on the committee's behalf, a sergeant-at-arms or an agent to serve the authorized process.
The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Murr; Johnson, Ann; Geren; Longoria; Spiller (5).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: None (0).
At 1:48 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
