Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17, 2023, and permission granted on May 17, 2023, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kuempel, at 2:05 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Kuempel; Paul; Burns; Burrows; Clardy; Cole; González, Mary; Howard; Lalani; and Raney.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

SB 1987

 

The chair laid out SB 1987 as pending business.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

The chair moved that SB 1987, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Kuempel; Paul; Burns; Burrows; Clardy; Raney (6).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Cole; González, Mary; Howard; Lalani (4).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

The chair laid out SB 2136.

 

The chair moved that SB 2136, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Nays:                           Representatives Cole; González, Mary; Howard; Lalani (4).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).
