Pursuant to a notice posted on March 9, 2023, and permission granted on March 16, 2023, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Wilson, at 11:24 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Wilson; Lopez, Ray; Bumgarner; Dorazio; Frank; Garcia; Morales Shaw; Muñoz, Jr.; and Slaton.

 

A quorum was present.

ADOPTION OF RULE

 

Consistent with the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives of the 88th Legislature,  and the authority granted to committees under House Rule 4, Section 13(a), to adopt additional rules by which the committee will function, the Committee on Defense and Veterans’ Affairs adopts the following committee rule for the 88th Legislature:

 

            Rule 1.  Witnesses; Testimony.  The committee chair may limit the time for a witness to deliver testimony, including limiting the time for questioning a witness.

 

The Chairman moved that Rule 1 be adopted.
