Pursuant to a notice posted on August 16, 2024, the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Leach, at 9:13 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Leach; Johnson, Julie; Flores; Moody; Murr; Schofield; Slawson; and Vasut.

A quorum was present.

The Committee heard invited testimony on the following interim charge:

Charge 1: Monitor the agencies and programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction and oversee the implementation of relevant legislations passed by the 88^th Legislature. Conduct active oversight of all associated rulemaking and other governmental actions taken to ensure the intended legislative outcome of all legislation, including the following:

· HB 19, relating to the creation of a specialty trial court to hear certain cases; authorizing fees;

· HB 841, relating to certain judicial statistics and related information gathered by the Texas Judicial Council; and

· HB 2384, relating to court administration, including the knowledge, efficiency, training, and transparency requirements for candidates for or holders of judicial offices.

At 11:28 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
