Pursuant to a notice posted on August 16, 2024, the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Leach, at 9:13 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Leach; Johnson, Julie; Flores; Moody; Murr; Schofield; Slawson; and Vasut.
A quorum was present.
The Committee heard invited testimony on the following interim charge:
Charge 1: Monitor the agencies and programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction and oversee the implementation of relevant legislations passed by the 88th Legislature. Conduct active oversight of all associated rulemaking and other governmental actions taken to ensure the intended legislative outcome of all legislation, including the following:
· HB 19, relating to the creation of a specialty trial court to hear certain cases; authorizing fees;
· HB 841, relating to certain judicial statistics and related information gathered by the Texas Judicial Council; and
· HB 2384, relating to court administration, including the knowledge, efficiency, training, and transparency requirements for candidates for or holders of judicial offices.

At 11:28 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
