Pursuant to a notice posted on February 23, 2023, the House Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Buckley, at 8:01 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Buckley; Allison; Cunningham; Harris, Cody; Harrison; Hefner; King, Ken; Longoria; and Schaefer.

A quorum was present.

Chairman Buckley welcomed the committee and gave introductory remarks and organizational information.

The committee heard invited testimony on an overview of public education.
