Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. A quorum was established at 9:52 AM, and the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Middleton assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SB 2124 and recognized the author, Senator Creighton, to explain the bill.

 

The chair recognized Senator Creighton to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.  Senator Middleton moved that the committee substitute be left pending to await a quorum; without objection, it was so ordered.
