Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Subcommittee on Higher Education was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in the Back Rail.

The chair called the meeting to order at 4:08 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Middleton moved that the following bill be reported to the full Senate Committee on Education with no recommendation:

 

HB 4363          Kuempel (sp. Hinojosa)

 

There being no objection, the motion carried.

 

Senator Middleton assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business HB 8 in lieu of SB 2539 by Senator Creighton. 

 

Senator King moved that HB 8 be reported favorably to the Senate Committee on Education with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

Senator Creighton resumed the chair.

 

There being no further business, at 4:10 PM Senator Creighton moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
