Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 12:05 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

The chair laid out SB 6 and explained the bill.

No witnesses registered or testified on the bill.

At 12:13 PM Senator Johnson assumed the chair.

Senator Hughes moved that SB 6 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. 

At 12:14 PM Senator Hughes resumed the chair.

There being no further business, at 12:14 PM Senator Hughes moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
