The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. The following business was transacted:
The chair laid out the following interim committee charge:
Stopping Child Predators: Study how predators use Deepfake technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to harm or exploit children. Monitor the implementation of House Bill 2700, 88th Legislature, relating to prosecution of certain criminal offenses prohibiting sexually explicit visual material involving children. Recommend additional legislation to protect children as technology continues to evolve.
The following individuals provided invited and public testimony. See attached witness list.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 10:50 AM Senator King moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
