Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in the Senate Chamber.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:04 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called:

Senator Kolkhorst made opening remarks and recognized other members to make opening remarks.

 

Senator Perry moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 497 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill.

 

The Chair called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony on SB 497.(See attached witness list). Senator Kolkhorst moved that SB 497 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 415 and recognized the author, Senator Paxton, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Kolkhorst moved that SB 415 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out SB 780 and recognized the author, Senator Hughes, to explain the bill.

Senator Hancock moved that SB 545 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Perry moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 9:21 AM Senator Kolkhorst resumed the chair.
