Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture & Rural Affairs was held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM. There being a quorum present at 10:14 AM

The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Sparks, Senator Kolkhorst, Senator Blanco, Senator Johnson, and Senator Hancock.

The chair laid out the following interim charge:

Water System Reliability: Evaluate water systems in Texas and identify opportunities to better equip those systems to serve the public. Review the coordination of relevant state agencies dealing with Texas water issues and identify opportunities for improved coordination and effectiveness.

The following individuals provided invited testimony (see attached witness list).

At 1:00 PM Senator Kolkhorst assumed the chair.

At 1:11 PM Senator Perry resumed the chair.

The following witnesses provided public testimony (see attached witness list).

At 2:19 PM Senator Kolkhorst assumed the chair.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 2:34 PM Senator Flores moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
