CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senior Life Midland Meals on Wheels program
  achieved a remarkable milestone in 2025 with the delivery of its
  five millionth meal; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1974 as Community and Senior Services, an
  outreach project of First Christian Church, the organization was
  incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization in 1982; five
  years later, the donation of the Fuhrman-Vogel Center enabled
  Community and Senior Services to expand its programs and add a large
  commercial kitchen to prepare food for Meals on Wheels and three
  senior centers; and
         WHEREAS, The organization joined United Way of Midland in
  1988; in subsequent years, it launched its Retired Senior Volunteer
  Program and gained federal funding to implement the Foster
  Grandparent and Senior Companion Volunteer programs; the present
  name of Senior Life Midland was adopted in the late 2010s to reflect
  the organization's wide array of initiatives for older adults,
  including Senior Corps, Homebound Services, and Senior Centers; in
  order to meet the needs of local residents far into the future,
  Senior Life Midland moved into a new facility in 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Senior Life Midland has worked tirelessly to support
  the well-being of older residents, and its Meals on Wheels program
  is deserving of special recognition for providing nutritious food
  and friendly social interaction to homebound individuals,
  reminding them that they are valued members of the community; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas,
  1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Senior Life Midland
  Meals on Wheels program on delivering its five millionth meal and
  commend all those associated with the organization for their
  outstanding efforts; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and Senate.
