R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Burnt Bean Co. in Seguin has earned the prestigious |
|
No. 1 ranking on the Texas Monthly list of the 50 Best BBQ Joints in |
|
Texas for 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Published every four years, the Texas Monthly |
|
ratings are considered one of the most definitive assessments of |
|
the Lone Star State's barbecue establishments; the 2025 list was |
|
compiled by the publication's barbecue editor, Daniel Vaughn, in |
|
conjunction with a team of 26 taste testers who visited restaurants |
|
across Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ernest Servantes and Dave Kirkland, the founders and |
|
pitmasters of Burnt Bean Co., began their operation as a pop-up |
|
restaurant in 2019 and opened the brick-and-mortar establishment |
|
the following year; it quickly gained attention for its traditional |
|
meats and sides as well as specialties that include Sunday |
|
breakfast options; the restaurant has garnered acclaim from The New |
|
York Times as well as a 2024 Michelin Bib Gourmand Award, and |
|
Mr. Servantes and Mr. Kirkland have been honored multiple times as |
|
award semifinalists by the James Beard Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Burnt Bean Co. has earned a well-deserved reputation |
|
as one of the state's elite barbecue restaurants, becoming a source |
|
of great pride to the Seguin community, and all those associated |
|
with the business may take justifiable pride in this most recent |
|
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Burnt Bean Co. |
|
on being chosen the No. 1 restaurant in the Texas Monthly 2025 list |
|
of the 50 Best BBQ Joints in Texas and extend to its owners and staff |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Burnt Bean Co. as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
