R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Brenda Martin was honored as the City of Katy |
|
|
2024-2025 Senior Volunteer of the Year with a reception and formal |
|
|
proclamation on June 9, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This award is given to a Katy resident over the age |
|
|
of 55 who has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to enhancing the |
|
|
lives of their fellow citizens through acts of service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply involved in her community, Ms. Martin has |
|
|
given generously of her time and talents to many local |
|
|
organizations and initiatives, including Girl Scouts, Relay For |
|
|
Life of Katy, Special Olympics Texas, the Katy Heritage Society, |
|
|
the parent teacher groups of Katy Elementary and Junior High |
|
|
Schools, the Katy Junior High and High School choirs, and the City |
|
|
of Katy Fussell Senior Citizen Center; she also coordinates Katy |
|
|
Elementary's Milk4Many Program, which donates unopened perishables |
|
|
from the school cafeteria to the Katy Christian Ministries food |
|
|
pantry; in addition, she has played a pivotal role in supporting |
|
|
civic engagement by volunteering in numerous city elections; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Brenda Martin has made a lasting, positive |
|
|
difference in her community, and she has set an example of service |
|
|
to which all may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Brenda Martin |
|
|
on her selection as the City of Katy 2024-2025 Senior Volunteer of |
|
|
the Year and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
