R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The City of Katy unveiled its new visitors center
  with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 21, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Part of an ongoing campaign to revitalize the
  Historic Town Square, the Katy Visitors Center aims to promote
  tourism and to showcase the rich history of the city as well as its
  many attractions and amenities, including community events, scenic
  parks, retail and dining experiences, and educational
  opportunities; and
         WHEREAS, The center is located inside a building that
  previously housed a fire station, a library, a tax assessor's
  office, Keep Katy Beautiful, and the city's Parks and Recreation
  and Marketing and Tourism Departments; the renovated space now
  includes such features as a staffed reception desk, brochures, and
  interactive exhibits and touch-screen displays; in addition, the
  center boasts a designated area for children to play and learn about
  the industries significant to the area's development, including
  rice farming, railroads, and oil and gas; and
         WHEREAS, The successful completion of this project was made
  possible by the guidance and support of a number of city officials,
  staff, and volunteers, including those with the Katy City Council,
  the Katy Vision Committee, Keep Katy Beautiful, and the City of Katy
  Convention & Tourism Bureau, IT Department, Building Maintenance
  Team, and Parks and Recreation Department; moreover, DG Studios,
  VLK Architects, Innovative Environments, the experience design
  agency 900lbs, and the Katy Heritage Society made valuable
  contributions; and
         WHEREAS, The Katy Visitors Center is certain to be a
  much-appreciated resource for residents and guests alike, and it is
  a pleasure to join in recognizing the vision, leadership, and hard
  work that have helped bring this project to fruition; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the
  ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Katy Visitors Center and commend all
  those who have contributed to this worthy endeavor for their
  efforts.
