R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Hemulata Basumatary, the owner of Hemu's Sweet
  Sensation in Katy, has had the distinction of appearing in the first
  season of the Food Network series Super Mega Cakes, which debuted on
  June 16, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the season, Mrs. Basumatary
  worked alongside celebrity chef Duff Goldman in a cake decorating
  competition to create massive, larger-than-life cakes centered
  around a Warner Bros. theme; she was invited to participate in the
  contest by the show's producers, who had seen her appearances in a
  number of other televised baking competitions, including Netflix's
  Is It Cake?, where she was named a finalist, as well as Food Network
  contests Halloween Wars, where she served on the winning team, The
  Big Bake, which she won, Wedding Cake Championship, and Harry
  Potter: Wizards of Baking; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Basumatary launched her own bakery in Aberdeen,
  Scotland, in 2013, and after moving with her family to Katy in 2015,
  she began operating Hemu's Sweet Sensation out of her home in the
  Cinco Ranch neighborhood; around that time, her son requested that
  she make a fire truck cake for his birthday, and that project
  ignited her passion for artistic cake decorating; and
         WHEREAS, In 2016, Mrs. Basumatary began participating in cake
  decorating competitions around the globe, and she has amassed a
  collection of 14 awards, including a Couples' Choice Award from
  WeddingWire and the Cake Artist of the Year distinction from the
  Houston Bakers Guild; she was also named the Star Baker at the Sweet
  Art Master Show in Brooklyn, New York, and she was nominated for an
  American Cake Award; her work has been featured in publications
  such as the Houston Chronicle, Katy News, Cake Masters, American
  Cake Decorating, and Australian Cake Decorating, as well as the
  book Unexpected HTX by Alan Montgomery; in addition, she served as a
  guest speaker at the University of Houston's Table Talk event in
  2024, where she was honored as one of 50 inspiring women; and
         WHEREAS, With her impressive showing on Super Mega Cakes,
  Hemulata Basumatary has demonstrated great skill and
  determination, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing her for
  her many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Hemulata
  Basumatary on appearing in the Food Network's Super Mega Cakes
  television series and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Basumatary as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
