R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Joseph C. Longway is retiring as the Northwest
  Region chief of the Texas Department of Public Safety on August 31,
  2025, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the agency that
  has spanned more than 36 years; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Longway joined the ranks of the Texas Department
  of Public Safety in October 1988, and after completing training at
  the DPS Academy, he was stationed in Amarillo as a highway patrol
  officer; he was later assigned to Houston, Groom, and Lubbock, and
  he served as a narcotics investigator before joining the criminal
  investigations division in 2009; he was appointed as regional
  director in August 2019, and he has since provided exceptional
  leadership to the agency's Northwest Texas Region; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force,
  Mr. Longway holds a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist
  University and an associate's degree from Chaminade University of
  Honolulu; over the years, he has honed his abilities through
  training at the DEA Drug Unit Commander's Academy, the Northwestern
  University School of Police Staff & Command, and the FBI National
  Academy; and
         WHEREAS, Joe Longway has greatly benefited the people of
  Texas through his stalwart dedication to the highest standards of
  the law enforcement profession, and it is a pleasure to recognize
  him as he concludes his remarkable tenure of public service; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Joseph
  C. Longway on his retirement as the Northwest Region chief of the
  Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Longway as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
