R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Joseph C. Longway is retiring as the Northwest |
|
Region chief of the Texas Department of Public Safety on August 31, |
|
2025, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the agency that |
|
has spanned more than 36 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe Longway joined the ranks of the Texas Department |
|
of Public Safety in October 1988, and after completing training at |
|
the DPS Academy, he was stationed in Amarillo as a highway patrol |
|
officer; he was later assigned to Houston, Groom, and Lubbock, and |
|
he served as a narcotics investigator before joining the criminal |
|
investigations division in 2009; he was appointed as regional |
|
director in August 2019, and he has since provided exceptional |
|
leadership to the agency's Northwest Texas Region; and |
|
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, |
|
Mr. Longway holds a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist |
|
University and an associate's degree from Chaminade University of |
|
Honolulu; over the years, he has honed his abilities through |
|
training at the DEA Drug Unit Commander's Academy, the Northwestern |
|
University School of Police Staff & Command, and the FBI National |
|
Academy; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe Longway has greatly benefited the people of |
|
Texas through his stalwart dedication to the highest standards of |
|
the law enforcement profession, and it is a pleasure to recognize |
|
him as he concludes his remarkable tenure of public service; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Joseph |
|
C. Longway on his retirement as the Northwest Region chief of the |
|
Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Longway as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
