R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Nelma Jean Speed Bonner of Fairfield on July 24, 2025, at
  the age of 95; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Clarence Speed and Jessie Pearl
  Renfro Speed, the former Jean Speed was born on February 22, 1930,
  in the Ward Prairie community; she grew up with the companionship of
  four brothers, Travis, Earl, Jake, and Renfro, and three sisters,
  Hazel, Eleanor, and Gladys; she received her early education in a
  one-room schoolhouse in Ward Prairie before the establishment of
  Fairfield Independent School District when she was in the fourth
  grade; her family later moved to Oak Cliff in Dallas County, and she
  graduated from Sunset High School; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Bonner shared a rewarding marriage with Jim
  Billie Bonner Jr. until the time of his passing, and they were the
  proud parents of two sons, Buck and Biff; Mrs. Bonner was further
  blessed with a granddaughter, Stella, and a great-grandson,
  Jonathan; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Bonner was a valued member of
  Ward Prairie Baptist Church; she taught Sunday school classes and
  helped with vacation Bible school, and through the years, pastors
  and their families would often visit the Bonner home for Sunday
  dinners; and
         WHEREAS, While the death of Jean Bonner brings immeasurable
  sorrow to her family and friends, she will forever be remembered
  with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Nelma Jean Speed Bonner and extend sincere sympathy to the members
  of her family: to her son, Buck Bonner; to her granddaughter, Stella
  Dewitt; to her great-grandson, Jonathan Dewitt; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean
  Bonner.
