R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Cory Hansen of the Austin Fire Department provided |
|
invaluable assistance in response to a house fire in North Austin on |
|
April 20, 2024; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the early hours of that morning, Mr. Hansen and |
|
his fellow firefighters were called to the scene of a home that was |
|
engulfed in flames; when they learned that someone might be inside |
|
the burning structure, the crew quickly gained access into the |
|
house by breaking a bedroom window; the conditions in the structure |
|
were extremely high risk, with very low visibility and thick black |
|
smoke, but the crew proceeded to perform a tactical search; |
|
Mr. Hansen and his teammate found an individual lying face down on |
|
the floor, and they quickly moved the victim outside; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hansen has served with the Austin Fire |
|
Department Ladder 8 crew for seven years, and he was presented with |
|
the Medal of Merit from the department in recognition of his |
|
exemplary efforts during the incident; in addition, he is a proud |
|
veteran of the U.S. Army and the devoted father of two sons; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dedicated first responder has embodied the |
|
highest ideals of his profession, and he is indeed deserving of |
|
special recognition for his exceptional heroism; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Cory Hansen for his |
|
courageous actions in responding to a house fire and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Hansen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
