R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Cory Hansen of the Austin Fire Department provided
  invaluable assistance in response to a house fire in North Austin on
  April 20, 2024; and
         WHEREAS, In the early hours of that morning, Mr. Hansen and
  his fellow firefighters were called to the scene of a home that was
  engulfed in flames; when they learned that someone might be inside
  the burning structure, the crew quickly gained access into the
  house by breaking a bedroom window; the conditions in the structure
  were extremely high risk, with very low visibility and thick black
  smoke, but the crew proceeded to perform a tactical search;
  Mr. Hansen and his teammate found an individual lying face down on
  the floor, and they quickly moved the victim outside; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hansen has served with the Austin Fire
  Department Ladder 8 crew for seven years, and he was presented with
  the Medal of Merit from the department in recognition of his
  exemplary efforts during the incident; in addition, he is a proud
  veteran of the U.S. Army and the devoted father of two sons; and
         WHEREAS, This dedicated first responder has embodied the
  highest ideals of his profession, and he is indeed deserving of
  special recognition for his exceptional heroism; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Cory Hansen for his
  courageous actions in responding to a house fire and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hansen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
