R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, After five decades of serving the people of Rio |
|
|
Grande City, El Valle Bakery closed its doors on June 30, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established by Adolfo Berlanga and his wife, Maria |
|
|
del Carmen Berlanga, in February 1975, El Valle Bakery sold fresh |
|
|
bread, pan dulce, and other pastries to generations of loyal |
|
|
customers through the years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Berlanga's son, Rafael, joined the |
|
|
family business in 2008; following his parents' passing, he ably |
|
|
guided the shop until his retirement; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although the closing of El Valle Bakery marks the |
|
|
end of an era in Rio Grande City, the Berlanga family may indeed |
|
|
take great pride in the landmark status their business achieved |
|
|
during its long and illustrious history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize El Valle Bakery |
|
|
for its 50 years of service to the community and congratulate Rafael |
|
|
Berlanga on his retirement; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Berlanga as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
