R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For the past two and a half decades, Renee Watson has
  served her community with distinction as the director of the Bexar
  County Small Business and Entrepreneurship Department; and
         WHEREAS, In this role, Ms. Watson's responsibilities include
  overseeing the county's Small, Minority and Women-Owned Business
  Enterprise Program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program,
  as well as serving as the U.S. Department of Transportation Title VI
  coordinator and as a member of the county manager's Executive
  Leadership Team; moreover, she works with other public entities,
  community organizations, and vendors to promote participation and
  to ensure access to contracting, professional services, and local,
  state, federal, and private-sector procurement opportunities, and
  she also reviews current practices to recommend improvements; and
         WHEREAS, Civically engaged, Ms. Watson is an alumnus of
  several professional development programs, such as Leadership
  SAISD, Leadership Texas, and Leadership San Antonio; she has
  received numerous accolades through the years in recognition of her
  myriad contributions, including the Champion for Diversity &
  Inclusion Award and the 40 Under 40 Award from the San Antonio
  Business Journal, the Servant Leader Award from the Blacks In
  Government San Antonio Chapter, and the Athena Leadership Award
  from the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Watson holds a master contract compliance
  administrator certificate from Morgan State University, a master's
  degree in urban planning and rural economic development from Baruch
  College at The City University of New York, and a bachelor's degree
  in management and marketing from The University of Texas at
  San Antonio; previously, she served as chief of staff for Texas
  Senator Rodney Ellis and San Diego, California, City Council Member
  George Stevens; and
         WHEREAS, The dedication, hard work, and commitment to
  excellence that Renee Watson has demonstrated have greatly
  benefited the San Antonio community and earned her the respect and
  admiration of her colleagues, and she is indeed deserving of
  recognition for her outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby commend Renee Watson for her 25 years of
  service as director of the Bexar County Small Business and
  Entrepreneurship Department and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Watson as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  Senate.
