SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 4
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Joseph C. Longway is retiring as the Northwest |
|
|
Region chief of the Texas Department of Public Safety on August |
|
|
31, 2025, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the |
|
|
agency that has spanned more than 36 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joe Longway joined the ranks of the Texas |
|
|
Department of Public Safety in October 1988, and after completing |
|
|
training at the DPS Academy, he was stationed in Amarillo as a |
|
|
highway patrol officer; he was later assigned to Houston, Groom, |
|
|
and Lubbock, and he served as a narcotics investigator before |
|
|
joining the criminal investigations division in 2009; he was |
|
|
appointed as regional director in August 2019, and he has since |
|
|
provided exceptional leadership to the agency's Northwest Texas |
|
|
Region; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force, |
|
|
Mr. Longway holds a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist |
|
|
University and an associate's degree from Chaminade University |
|
|
of Honolulu; over the years, he has honed his abilities through |
|
|
training at the DEA Drug Unit Commander's Academy, the |
|
|
Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, and the |
|
|
FBI National Academy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joe Longway has greatly benefited the people of |
|
|
Texas through his stalwart dedication to the highest standards of |
|
|
the law enforcement profession, and it is a pleasure to recognize |
|
|
him as he concludes his remarkable tenure of public service; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Joseph |
|
|
C. Longway on his retirement as the Northwest Region chief of the |
|
|
Texas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Longway as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
