R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Linda Walton Semlear of |
|
Longview were deeply saddened by her death on May 17, 2025, at the |
|
age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Al and Odessa Walton, the former |
|
Linda Walton was born on August 25, 1945, in Kilgore, where she grew |
|
up with her siblings; she graduated from Kilgore High School and |
|
continued her education at Kilgore College before earning a degree |
|
at Stephen F. Austin State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her time at the university, she met her |
|
future husband, Jack Semlear, and their wedding in 1967 marked the |
|
beginning of a rewarding marriage that spanned 46 years until |
|
Mr. Semlear's passing; after settling in Longview with her husband, |
|
Mrs. Semlear worked for Texas Eastman and eventually retired from |
|
the Pine Tree Independent School District; she further contributed |
|
to the teaching profession as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Semlear was a devoted mother to her two |
|
children, Eric and Elaine, and with the passing years, she |
|
delighted in becoming "Nonnie" to her seven grandchildren, Brayden, |
|
Allison, Kate, Olivia, Jessica, Clay, and Sara; and |
|
WHEREAS, While her loss is difficult to bear, Linda Semlear |
|
left behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|
richer for having known her, and she will always hold a treasured |
|
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Linda Walton |
|
Semlear and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her son, Eric Semlear and his wife, Kelly; to her |
|
daughter, Elaine Hargate; to her grandchildren; and to her other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Linda Semlear. |
