R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of
  Dr. Arthur Steve Baker of Longview, who passed away on May 31, 2025,
  at the age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Arthur George and Patricia Steves Baker,
  Steve Baker was born on September 27, 1955, in Barberton, Ohio, and
  he grew up with the companionship of a sister, Mary, and a brother,
  William; after graduating from Forest Park High School in Beaumont
  in 1974, he enrolled at Baylor University and majored in chemistry;
  in 1982, he earned his doctorate of dental surgery from The
  University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; he
  subsequently began practicing dentistry in Longview, and over the
  course of his 31-year career, he took multiple dental mission trips
  to Mexico and Belize; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Dr. Baker was a Tryon Road
  Special Utility District board member for two decades, and he also
  dedicated his time to the Great Texas Balloon Race for 30 years,
  earning the program's highest volunteer honor, the Rudy Bresie
  Award; through his involvement with the Longview Greggton Rotary
  Club, he helped host foreign exchange students and supported the
  rodeo and other local events; in addition, he was a valued member of
  Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as a lay minister and as
  head of the Men of Trinity; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Baker enjoyed the love and
  support of his wife, Lisa, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage
  that spanned 45 years; he took great pride in their children, David
  and Annabeth, and he enjoyed supporting them in all of their
  athletic pursuits; and
         WHEREAS, Steve Baker lived a life that was rich in personal
  and professional achievements, and he will forever be a source of
  inspiration to those he has left behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Arthur
  Steve Baker and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Lisa Chiles Baker; to his son, Arthur David
  Baker; to his daughter, Annabeth Lee Baker; to his sister, Mary
  Baker Harrison; to his brother, William Warren Baker; and to his
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Steve Baker.
