R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of William David Dunlap of Longview on June 29, 2025, at the
  age of 86; and
         WHEREAS, David Dunlap was born to Phelan and Isabelle Dunlap
  on March 1, 1939, in Longview and grew up sharing in the
  companionship of two siblings, Janet and Robert; a 1957 graduate of
  Longview High School, he went on to attend Kilgore College and Texas
  Tech University; and
         WHEREAS, In 1961, Mr. Dunlap married Polly Tyson, and the
  couple embarked on a richly rewarding union that spanned nearly 64
  years; a devoted father to their two daughters, Angela and Becky,
  Mr. Dunlap led the band booster club, attended countless dances,
  and often played basketball and Ping-Pong with his girls; with the
  passing years, he had the privilege of welcoming a grandson, Cole,
  into the family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Dunlap enjoyed a successful career as a
  purchasing agent that included tenures with Gibson's Discount
  Center and R. Lacy Oil Company; an active member of the Longview
  community, he volunteered with such worthy organizations as Asbury
  House, Longview Community Ministries, and Habitat for Humanity, and
  he was a dedicated congregant of First United Methodist Church,
  where he served as a frequent volunteer and as pitcher for the
  church softball team; later in life, Mr. Dunlap delighted in fixing
  up his home on Lake Cherokee, and his hobbies included fly-fishing,
  playing golf, and bird-watching; and
         WHEREAS, David Dunlap embraced life to the fullest, and he
  will forever remain a vibrant presence for those who knew and loved
  him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of William David
  Dunlap and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:
  to his wife, Polly Dunlap; to his daughters, Angela Martin and her
  husband, Tony, and Becky Dennis and her husband, Gary; to his
  grandson, Cole Dennis; and to his many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of David Dunlap.
