R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Dr. Bobby Gene Roberts Sr. of Tyler on June 13, 2025, at
  the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Clyde Floyd Roberts and Johnnie Mae
  Davis, Bob Roberts was born in San Augustine on May 26, 1935, and he
  grew up with the companionship of two sisters, Linda and Billie;
  first called to the ministry as a teenager, he was ordained as a
  Southern Baptist minister in 1955; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Baylor University, Pastor Roberts also
  attended Lamar University and Southwestern Baptist Theological
  Seminary, and he earned master and doctor of divinity degrees from
  Luther Rice Seminary; his first full-time pastorate was to Woodrow
  Baptist Church in Silsbee, and he went on to serve churches in
  Winnie, Corsicana, Wichita Falls, Port Acres, and Lindale; and
         WHEREAS, After leaving the pastorate in 1979 to devote
  himself to evangelism and mission work, Dr. Roberts founded
  Christian Foundations of Faith, Inc.; Belize became his primary
  mission field, where he built churches, sponsored ministries, and
  supported local preachers through resources and mentorship; over
  the years, he became well-known for his "Sixty Second Sermon"
  devotionals, newsletters, and television broadcasts that reached
  countless people in North and Central America; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Pastor Roberts enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife of 71 years, Gay O'Keefe Roberts; he
  was the proud father of their four children, Sandra, Bob, Mark, and
  Sheila, and with the passing years, their family grew to include six
  grandchildren, Bethany, Samuel, Benjamin, Jill, Grace, and Clara,
  and six great-grandchildren, Moses, Esther, Luke, Naomi, Zelda, and
  Ronen; and
         WHEREAS, While the passing of Bob Roberts brings great
  sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that
  will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Bobby Gene
  Roberts Sr. and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Dr. Bob Roberts.
