R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Tyler Junior College men's tennis team achieved |
|
great distinction by winning the 2025 National Junior College |
|
Athletic Association Division I championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Tyler joined the other top junior college teams from |
|
across the country at the NJCAA tournament, which took place from |
|
May 12 to 16 in Florence, South Carolina; the Apaches turned in a |
|
dominant performance, winning first place in singles flight No. 5 |
|
and sweeping the three doubles flights; TJC totaled 42 points, 9 |
|
more than runner-up finisher Barton Community College, to capture |
|
the national crown for the second consecutive season and the 20th |
|
time in program history; and |
|
WHEREAS, Six Apache players garnered First Team All-American |
|
honors; Daniel Mauricio Marincas made the No. 5 First Team Singles |
|
All-American squad and was a No. 3 First Team Doubles selection |
|
alongside Alex Morris; Daniel Borisov and Alex Despoja secured |
|
spots on the No. 1 Doubles squad, while Doni Gashi and Daniel |
|
Jankoski claimed All-American status on the No. 2 Doubles flight; |
|
TJC also received valuable contributions throughout the year from |
|
Jacopo Cianfarini, Ouga Miyazaki, and Alejandro Pardo; the squad |
|
was ably guided by interim head coach Micah Avance, who was named |
|
the NJCAA Coach of the Tournament; and |
|
WHEREAS, By once again earning the mantle of national |
|
champions, the Tyler Junior College Apaches have burnished the |
|
school's reputation as a tennis powerhouse, and all those |
|
associated with the team may indeed reflect with pride on a job well |
|
done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
Called Session, hereby congratulate the Tyler Junior College men's |
|
tennis team on winning the 2025 NJCAA Division I championship and |
|
extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
