R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on May 15,
  2025, with the passing of Tommie George Davis of Carthage at the age
  of 90; and
         WHEREAS, Tommie George Davis was born to Tom Rucks and
  Moselle Tiller Davis on September 13, 1934, in Shreveport,
  Louisiana, and he grew up in the rural community of Latex; he
  graduated from Carthage High School in 1953 and went on to earn a
  law degree from Baylor University in 1959; he then worked for Humble
  Oil and as an assistant district attorney before partnering with
  attorney Tom Bankhead in Carthage; he later established his own
  practice, specializing in oil and gas litigation until his
  retirement; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Davis enjoyed the love and
  support of his wife, the former Mary Lu Watkins, with whom he shared
  a fulfilling union that spanned 66 years; he took great pride in
  their daughters, Mary Ella and Leigh, and with the passing years, he
  had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include three
  grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; in his leisure time,
  he liked going on bird hunting and fishing trips, listening to jazz,
  and meeting up with friends and family for weekly lunches; and
         WHEREAS, Although Tommie George Davis is deeply missed, he
  has left his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will
  forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Tommie George
  Davis and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
  his wife, Mary Lu Davis; to his daughters, Mary Ella Sherman and
  Leigh Davis; to his grandchildren, Robert Davis Sherman, Mary
  Elaine Finch, and Anna Kate Sherman; to his great-grandchildren,
  George Sherman, Isabelle Sherman, and Mary Belle Finch; to his
  cousins, Martha Anne, Lloyd, and Janis Tiller; to his special
  friend, Bubba Patterson; and to his other friends and relatives;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Tommie George Davis.
