R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
  with the passing of Kenneth Allen Griffin of Katy on June 22, 2025,
  at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Kenneth Griffin was born in Abilene on August 5,
  1942, to Athen and Walter Griffin, an army lieutenant colonel and
  chaplain; growing up in a military family with three siblings,
  Richard, Sharla, and Janis, he lived in various cities in the
  U.S. and Germany, and in 1961, he graduated from Stuttgart American
  High School in West Germany; returning to Abilene, he continued his
  education at Hardin-Simmons University, and he subsequently
  studied history at the University of Houston; and
         WHEREAS, In the 1960s, Mr. Griffin was employed with NASA
  during the evolution of the Apollo space mission program; he then
  traveled the world as an advertising and public relations executive
  in the oil and gas industry; during the late 1970s, he founded a
  successful public relations firm, Griffin & Associates; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin and his first wife, Mary, became the
  proud parents of two children, Rosalind and Travis; he went on to
  share a rewarding marriage with his second wife, Lynda Lindinger
  Griffin, who preceded him in death in 2019; in all his endeavors, he
  treasured time spent with his family, which grew to include four
  grandchildren; possessed of a strong sense of adventure, he
  belonged to the National Speleological Society and explored caves
  in Texas and in Mexico; he also loved history, reading, and music,
  and he was a deacon and Sunday school class director at Second
  Baptist-Woodway Campus in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, While the passing of Kenneth Griffin brings great
  sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy of
  kindness, wisdom, and faith that will long be cherished by all those
  who held him dear; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kenneth Allen
  Griffin and extend heartfelt condolences to his loved ones: to his
  children, Rosalind Lea Griffin and Travis Miller Griffin Sr. and
  his wife, Jennifer; to his grandchildren, Alena Claire Griffin,
  Travis Miller Griffin Jr., Madison Rebecca Griffin, and McKenzie
  Kay Griffin; to his former wife, Mary Blackmon Griffin; and to all
  others who mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Kenneth Griffin.
