Emma Raney |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
|
|
with the passing of Emma Renell Raney of Argo on July 20, 2025, at |
|
|
the age of 100; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Els and Lola Babe Wilbanks, the |
|
|
former "Nell" Wilbanks was born in Argo on March 20, 1925, and she |
|
|
grew up with the companionship of two brothers, Alvin and Jude; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, Charles Raney, |
|
|
on December 28, 1944, and the couple went on to share a fulfilling |
|
|
marriage that spanned seven decades until his passing in 2014; |
|
|
Mrs. Raney took great pride in their children, Linda, Dale, Kim, |
|
|
and Carolyn, who preceded her mother in death; with the passing |
|
|
years, she had the privilege of watching her treasured family |
|
|
grow to include 12 grandchildren, Angie, Brian, Jerilyn, |
|
|
Michael, Cheryl, Michelle, Krissy, Matt, Vernon, Chris, Charles, |
|
|
and the late Kasi Hopkins, as well as 21 great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Raney was a lifelong member |
|
|
of Argo Missionary Baptist Church; in her leisure time, she |
|
|
enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, playing 42, traveling with |
|
|
family, and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren |
|
|
in all their endeavors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, grace, and kindness, Nell |
|
|
Raney brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will |
|
|
forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|
|
of Emma Renell Raney and extend sincere condolences to her |
|
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Nell Raney. |
