SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Emma Raney
 
         WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
  with the passing of Emma Renell Raney of Argo on July 20, 2025, at
  the age of 100; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Els and Lola Babe Wilbanks, the
  former "Nell" Wilbanks was born in Argo on March 20, 1925, and she
  grew up with the companionship of two brothers, Alvin and Jude;
  and
         WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, Charles Raney,
  on December 28, 1944, and the couple went on to share a fulfilling
  marriage that spanned seven decades until his passing in 2014;
  Mrs. Raney took great pride in their children, Linda, Dale, Kim,
  and Carolyn, who preceded her mother in death; with the passing
  years, she had the privilege of watching her treasured family
  grow to include 12 grandchildren, Angie, Brian, Jerilyn,
  Michael, Cheryl, Michelle, Krissy, Matt, Vernon, Chris, Charles,
  and the late Kasi Hopkins, as well as 21 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Raney was a lifelong member
  of Argo Missionary Baptist Church; in her leisure time, she
  enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, playing 42, traveling with
  family, and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
  in all their endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, grace, and kindness, Nell
  Raney brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will
  forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
  of Emma Renell Raney and extend sincere condolences to her
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Nell Raney.
