R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |
|
with the passing of Emma Renell Raney of Argo on July 20, 2025, at |
|
the age of 100; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Els and Lola Babe Wilbanks, the |
|
former "Nell" Wilbanks was born in Argo on March 20, 1925, and she |
|
grew up with the companionship of two brothers, Alvin and Jude; and |
|
WHEREAS, She married the love of her life, Charles Raney, on |
|
December 28, 1944, and the couple went on to share a fulfilling |
|
marriage that spanned seven decades until his passing in 2014; |
|
Mrs. Raney took great pride in their children, Linda, Dale, Kim, |
|
and Carolyn, who preceded her mother in death; with the passing |
|
years, she had the privilege of watching her treasured family grow |
|
to include 12 grandchildren, Angie, Brian, Jerilyn, Michael, |
|
Cheryl, Michelle, Krissy, Matt, Vernon, Chris, Charles, and the |
|
late Kasi Hopkins, as well as 21 great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. Raney was a lifelong member |
|
of Argo Missionary Baptist Church; in her leisure time, she enjoyed |
|
gardening, cooking, quilting, playing 42, traveling with family, |
|
and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all |
|
their endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, grace, and kindness, Nell |
|
Raney brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will |
|
forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Emma Renell Raney |
|
and extend sincere condolences to her relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Nell Raney. |
