R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|
|
memories of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega Jr., who |
|
|
tragically passed away in the line of duty on August 3, 2014, at the |
|
|
age of 36; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Javier and Marie Vega, Javier Vega was |
|
|
born in La Feria on June 17, 1978, and he grew up with the |
|
|
companionship of a brother, Jordy; after graduating from La Feria |
|
|
High School, he answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted in |
|
|
the U.S. Marine Corps; in 2008, following his military service, he |
|
|
embarked on a career in law enforcement when he joined the U.S. |
|
|
Border Patrol; taking great pride in his job, he worked as a K-9 |
|
|
handler at the Kingsville Station; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Agent Vega benefited from the |
|
|
love and support of his wife, Andrea Brown Vega, and his three sons, |
|
|
Javier, Jiovanni, and Jarod; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed |
|
|
fishing and running; above all else, he treasured time spent with |
|
|
his loved ones; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women |
|
|
of law enforcement that the passage of time can never diminish, and |
|
|
Agent Vega's commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of |
|
|
the public will forever be remembered by all those who had the good |
|
|
fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Javier Vega Jr. |
|
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and former |
|
|
colleagues; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Javier Vega Jr. |
