R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega Jr., who
  tragically passed away in the line of duty on August 3, 2014, at the
  age of 36; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Javier and Marie Vega, Javier Vega was
  born in La Feria on June 17, 1978, and he grew up with the
  companionship of a brother, Jordy; after graduating from La Feria
  High School, he answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted in
  the U.S. Marine Corps; in 2008, following his military service, he
  embarked on a career in law enforcement when he joined the U.S.
  Border Patrol; taking great pride in his job, he worked as a K-9
  handler at the Kingsville Station; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Agent Vega benefited from the
  love and support of his wife, Andrea Brown Vega, and his three sons,
  Javier, Jiovanni, and Jarod; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed
  fishing and running; above all else, he treasured time spent with
  his loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Texans owe a debt of gratitude to the men and women
  of law enforcement that the passage of time can never diminish, and
  Agent Vega's commitment to protecting the safety and well-being of
  the public will forever be remembered by all those who had the good
  fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Javier Vega Jr.
  and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and former
  colleagues; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Javier Vega Jr.
