SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Madeline Groce on the grand occasion of her 106th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Lone Oak on August 18, 1919, this
  cherished Texan grew up on her family's self-sustaining farm
  during the years of the Great Depression, and she attended the
  Lone Oak School for most of her education before transferring to
  attend the Snook School; and
         WHEREAS, A gracious matriarch, Madeline shared a loving
  marriage with Thomas Holland Groce, and she has been blessed with
  a wonderful family; her six children, 14 grandchildren, numerous
  great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren have
  enriched her life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, Madeline found additional fulfillment during her
  years working at the Snook School cafeteria and at Goodnight
  Memorial Hospital in Caldwell, and she is proud to have served as
  a research technician at Texas A&M College of Veterinary
  Medicine; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Burleson County, Madeline
  has been an esteemed congregant of Lone Oak Baptist Church and
  Providence Baptist Church, and she was active in choir and
  several ministries for many years; an avid card player in her
  younger years, Madeline continues to inspire others through her
  warmth and generosity of spirit; and
         WHEREAS, Madeline Groce has witnessed many remarkable and
  historic events throughout her lifetime that many of us only read
  about in history books, and there is much to be learned from the
  wisdom she has gained over the years; her 106th birthday is an
  extraordinary milestone and indeed an occasion for much
  rejoicing among all who have been privileged to share in her
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Madeline Groce
  as a treasured citizen of the Lone Star State and extend to her
  congratulations and best wishes on her 106th birthday; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
