R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Raymondville Early College High School Bearkat |
|
Band has been named the 2026 3A Honor Band by the Texas Music |
|
Educators Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Established in the late 1950s, the TMEA Honor Band |
|
program annually recognizes groups and instructors that have |
|
exemplified the highest standards of music education and |
|
performance; designation as an Honor Band is one of the highest |
|
recognitions that a music program in Texas can achieve; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Raymondville Bearkat Band was selected as the |
|
Honor Band in the 3A class; during the competition, the ensemble |
|
achieved the rare distinction of receiving first-place rankings |
|
from all five judges in both the semifinal and final rounds; in |
|
addition, the band has been invited to perform at the TMEA |
|
Convention in San Antonio in February 2026; these talented young |
|
Texans benefit from the able leadership of director Benjamin |
|
Keltner and assistant director Leonel Barrera; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the tremendous skill and dedication of its |
|
members, the Raymondville Bearkat Band has proven itself worthy of |
|
this prestigious honor, and it is truly a privilege to commend the |
|
group for its outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the |
|
Raymondville Early College High School Bearkat Band on being named |
|
the 2026 3A Honor Band by the Texas Music Educators Association and |
|
extend to all those involved in the program sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the ensemble as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
