R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Locally owned businesses play an important role in
  the culture and economy of Texas communities, and in July 2025,
  Brownsville Coffee Shop No. 2 celebrated 50 years of serving area
  residents; and
         WHEREAS, Brownsville Coffee Shop No. 2 traces its origins to
  1964, when founder Rafaela Manzano Alviar began selling homemade
  Mexican cuisine out of a small building on Elizabeth Street; her
  children soon joined her in the business, and she later opened
  Brownsville Coffee Shop No. 1 on 13th Street before adding a second
  location on International Boulevard in 1975; Ms. Alviar eventually
  passed ownership of Brownsville Coffee Shop No. 2 to her daughter,
  Jovita Alviar Chase, who had served the enterprise in a variety of
  roles over the years; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Chase continues to operate Brownsville
  Coffee Shop No. 2, which in recent years has increased its seating
  capacity to more than 90 guests; throughout its history, the
  restaurant has enjoyed the loyalty of a devoted clientele with its
  welcoming atmosphere and its extensive menu of Tex-Mex favorites;
  and
         WHEREAS, Over the past half century, Brownsville Coffee Shop
  No. 2 has become a beloved local institution, and it is a pleasure
  to recognize the restaurant and the reputation for excellence that
  it has achieved; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 50th
  anniversary of Brownsville Coffee Shop No. 2 and extend to all
  those associated with the establishment sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
