R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Linda Joyce Cox on July 21, 2025, at the age of 74; and |
|
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Tilt," the former Linda |
|
Murphree was born to Dale Allen and Jimmy L. Murphree in Jonesboro, |
|
Arkansas, on November 9, 1950, and she grew up with the |
|
companionship of two siblings, Nancy and Jim; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, she benefited from the love |
|
and support of her husband, Lucky, and she took great pride in her |
|
children, Nick, Dawnn, and Dillon; over the years, she had the |
|
pleasure of welcoming into her family six grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A passionate community advocate, Mrs. Cox made a |
|
meaningful difference in the lives of countless children, families, |
|
and other individuals in need through her contributions to Tilt's |
|
Toy Run, Wishing on the Lone Star, and the Special Needs Prom; she |
|
also organized a number of other local events, and she helped |
|
collect and distribute donations for people experiencing |
|
homelessness; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cox enjoyed traveling the open road on her |
|
Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and she shared lifelong bonds with a |
|
close-knit community of bikers; in addition, she operated a booth |
|
at the Texas State Fair; and |
|
WHEREAS, Admired for her creativity, kindness, and |
|
generosity, Linda Cox brightened the world for all who knew her, and |
|
she will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Linda Joyce Cox and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her husband, Lucky Cox; to her children, Nick and his |
|
partner, Kim, Dawnn, and Dillon; to her sister, Nancy; to her |
|
nieces, Jennifer, Michelle, Rachael, and Heather; to her |
|
grandchildren, Haygen, Leeland, Whitten, Aubriella, Leo, and |
|
Joann; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linda Cox. |
