R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the passing of
  eight-year-old Lucy Dillon of Houston, who was tragically lost in
  the July 4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Brandt and Lisa Dillon on December 17, 2016,
  in Houston, Lucy Dillon was a source of tremendous joy to her
  parents; she treasured the time she spent with her sister, Charley,
  and her half-sisters, Maren and Miranda, and her circle of love and
  support also included her grandparents, Suki and Joe Posevina; and
         WHEREAS, A rising third grader at Memorial Drive Elementary
  School, Lucy was a proud "math mover" who was known for her academic
  success, her insatiable curiosity, and her remarkable memory;
  moreover, her love of learning extended to fun facts and sports
  statistics; she was an avid reader, and she collected crystals,
  gems, bobblehead athletes, fidget toys, and anything featuring
  corgis; and
         WHEREAS, Lucy made friends everywhere she went, and she was a
  gifted athlete who began riding a bicycle when she was three years
  old and playing basketball at age four; a devoted Houston Rockets
  fan, she delighted in shooting baskets in the driveway with the
  members of her family; fiercely competitive, she had recently
  helped her basketball and softball teams win league championships,
  and she dreamed of becoming a college basketball player; and
         WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief,
  Lucy Dillon was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her
  dear, and they will never forget the kindness, passion, and
  determination that she brought to her every endeavor; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Lucy Dillon and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family: to her parents, Brandt and Lisa Dillon; to her sister,
  Charley Dillon; to her half-sisters, Maren Dillon and Miranda
  Dillon Hassler; to her maternal grandparents, Suki Posevina and Joe
  Posevina; to her uncle, Michael Posevina; and to all those who share
  in the sorrow of her loss; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lucy
  Dillon.
