R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Katherine Frances
  Ferruzzo of Houston will forever cherish their memories of this
  vibrant and beloved young woman, who was tragically lost in the July
  4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County at the age of 19; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 21, 2006, to John and Andrea DeLorenzo
  Ferruzzo, Katherine Ferruzzo grew up with the companionship of two
  older brothers, Jack and Vincent; during her time at Memorial High
  School in Houston, she excelled academically and in several
  leadership roles, serving as a student council representative for
  four years and as chapter president of the Texas Association of
  Future Educators; she also distinguished herself through her
  membership in both the National Honor Society and the English
  National Honor Society; her dynamic personality earned her the
  title of "Life of the Party" by her Class of 2025 peers, and she
  carried that same contagious energy into her role as head of the
  senior girls' spirit organization; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Ferruzzo's acceptance to The University of
  Texas at Austin was a joyous achievement for her and a proud moment
  for her parents, both of whom are alumni; inspired by her childhood
  experience with speech therapy, she planned to pursue a degree in
  special education, hoping to positively impact the lives of
  children facing unique learning challenges; she had gained
  experience in the field through her involvement with the Spring
  Branch Independent School District APPLE program for students with
  autism, and she also volunteered countless hours with the Memorial
  Chapter of the National Charity League alongside her mother; in
  recognition of her outstanding efforts, she was honored with the
  President's Volunteer Service Award three years in a row; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Ferruzzo attended Camp Mystic in Hunt from 2015
  to 2024, and she was profoundly influenced by her experiences and
  achievements there, especially her election as a tribe captain in
  her final year as a camper; she was excited to return as a counselor
  in 2025, and she spent her final days there, caring for the campers
  of the Bubble Inn cabin; and
         WHEREAS, Katherine Ferruzzo accomplished much and touched
  the lives of many people during her brief time on this earth, and
  her memory will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have
  known her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Katherine Frances Ferruzzo and extend sincere condolences to all
  who mourn her passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Katherine
  Ferruzzo.
