R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
  the loss of Renee Marilyn Smajstrla of Ingram, who was tragically
  lost in the July 4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County, at the age of
  eight; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Kerrville on September 6, 2016, Renee
  Smajstrla was deeply cherished by her parents, Calvin and Catherine
  Smajstrla; she shared a close bond with her younger sister,
  Cameran, and she was further blessed with a loving family that
  included her grandparents and great-grandparents, as well as her
  many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
         WHEREAS, Renee was a rising third-grader at Hunt Elementary
  School, where she earned straight As in her second grade studies and
  was recognized by her teachers as a Soaring Eagle; passionate about
  theater, she had recently played one of the Lullaby League
  munchkins in her school's presentation of The Wizard of Oz, and
  while attending Camp Mystic, she had hopes of winning the lead role
  in a stage production; and
         WHEREAS, An energetic young girl, Renee devoted herself to
  her athletic activities and found great joy in cheering on and
  uplifting those around her; she made many happy memories in the
  company of her loved ones while dancing at Crider's Rodeo and
  Dancehall, participating in snow and water sports in northern
  Michigan, and attending St. Peter's Episcopal Church; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved daughter, sister, friend, and teammate,
  Renee Smajstrla immeasurably enriched the lives of all those who
  had the good fortune to share in her love and kindness, and they
  will forever carry her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Renee Marilyn Smajstrla and extend sincere condolences to the
  members of her family: to her parents, Calvin and Catherine
  Smajstrla; to her sister, Cameran Smajstrla; to her grandparents,
  Michael and Janet Smajstrla, Stuart and Roberta Conant, and Mick
  and Denise Freed; to her great-grandparents, Marilyn Fierst and
  Glen Crain; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Renee
  Smajstrla.
