R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority
  celebrated its 40th anniversary on July 1, 2025, and this occasion
  provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the agency for its
  vital contributions to the Austin area; and
         WHEREAS, Created by a public vote on January 19, 1985,
  CapMetro began operations on July 1 of that year; the agency is
  funded in part by a one percent sales tax paid by the residents of
  its 549-square-mile area, which includes Austin, Leander, Point
  Venture, Manor, Lago Vista, Jonestown, and San Leanna; and
         WHEREAS, CapMetro offers a variety of transit options to
  serve the needs of commuters, including traditional fixed-route
  bus, park-and-ride, bike-share, and paratransit services as well as
  a hybrid rail system; transporting about 90,500 passengers each
  weekday, CapMetro utilizes a fleet of 416 buses, 55 rapid vehicles,
  49 pickup vehicles, 10 diesel electric trains, 94 vanpools, 181
  paratransit vehicles, and 76 bike-share stations; and
         WHEREAS, True to its mission, CapMetro provides a system of
  innovative, reliable, safe, and environmentally sustainable
  mobility options that contribute to the quality of life and
  economic vitality in the region, and it is indispensable to the
  transportation infrastructure in Austin and beyond; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 40th
  anniversary of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority
  and extend to the agency sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for CapMetro as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
