R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed member of the
  Greatest Generation is truly cause for celebration, and Albino
  Bazan Jr. of La Casita marked this momentous milestone in his life
  on April 14, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Albino Bazan Sr. and Apolonia Montalvo
  Bazan, Albino Bazan was born in La Casita in 1925; he grew up with
  eight siblings and learned the value of perseverance, hard work,
  and devotion to family early on; coming of age during World War II,
  he was drafted into the U.S. Navy as a senior at Rio Grande City High
  School; he trained as an aviation machinist and was assigned to the
  USS Kenneth Whiting; the lead ship in the class of seaplane tenders,
  it played a crucial role during battles in the Pacific Theater;
  Mr. Bazan served with valor for more than two years before his
  discharge on December 3, 1945; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan married the former Santos Vela
  on June 8, 1946, and they raised five children; determined to
  further his education, he completed his studies and received his
  high school diploma; he supported his family in a number of
  occupations, initially herding cattle alongside his father as a
  ranch hand in Starr County and harvesting cotton in Robstown and
  sugar beets in Friona; eventually, he was hired by the
  U.S. Department of Agriculture and contributed to the eradication
  of the screwworm; he went on to join the Rio Grande City Independent
  School District Maintenance Department, where he was employed until
  his retirement; through the years, his treasured family has grown
  to include 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a
  great-great-grandchild; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, Albino Bazan has not
  only bravely served his nation but has also met the challenges and
  opportunities of a long life with optimism and resilience, earning
  the deep respect and appreciation of all who are fortunate enough to
  know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Albino
  Bazan Jr. on the joyous occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Bazan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
