R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of William Franklin Hunt of Stockdale on June 24, 2025, at |
|
the age of 93; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Roy Edwin and Alma Hunt, Bill Hunt was |
|
born in Alice on May 29, 1932, and he grew up with the companionship |
|
of a brother, George; he graduated from William Adams High School, |
|
and he subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hunt met the love of his life, the former |
|
Shirley Whitley, while stationed in Charleston, West Virginia; the |
|
couple married on August 3, 1954, and they went on to share a |
|
fulfilling union that spanned 72 years; he took great pride in their |
|
four children, Billy, Brady, Lisa, and Margie, and with the passing |
|
years, he had the pleasure of seeing his treasured family grow to |
|
include a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Returning to civilian life, Mr. Hunt and his wife |
|
eventually made their home in Stockdale, where he served as a master |
|
of the Masonic Lodge, a patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and |
|
a trustee on the Stockdale Independent School District Board; he |
|
was also a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and active in the |
|
congregation at First Baptist Church of Stockdale; in his leisure |
|
hours, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with loved ones; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A thoughtful and hardworking man, Bill Hunt will be |
|
deeply missed, and those who held him dear will forever remember the |
|
warmth and kindness he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of |
|
William Franklin Hunt and extend sincere condolences to the members |
|
of his family: to his wife, Shirley Hunt; to his children, W. F. Hunt |
|
Jr., Brady Hunt and his wife, Dawn, and Lisa Rozier and her husband, |
|
Charlie; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to all |
|
his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill Hunt. |
