R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Arturo M. Garza of Rio Grande City on
  June 16, 2025, at the age of 99; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Simon and Jesusa B. Garza, Arturo Garza
  was born in Rio Grande City on December 10, 1925, and he grew up with
  five brothers, Arnoldo, Armando, Alfredo, Adalberto, and Simon;
  answering his nation's call to duty, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in
  1944 at the age of 18 and served in the Southern Philippines
  campaign as part of the Pacific Theater of World War II; his
  commendations included the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one
  bronze star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star,
  the World War II Victory Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars, and
  he was recognized as a Carbine Marksman; and
         WHEREAS, After the war, Mr. Garza embarked on a career as a
  welder; he founded General Welding Service in the 1950s, and he
  distinguished himself through his contributions to major
  infrastructure projects, including construction of the Falcon Dam;
  in the mid-1960s, he joined Mo-Vac Service Company, where he was
  employed for several decades and constructed tankers; he earned a
  reputation for his dedication and craftsmanship, and after his
  retirement from Mo-Vac in 1992, he began working locally; and
         WHEREAS, Above all, Mr. Garza took great pride in his family;
  he and his wife, Imelda "Jimmie" Garza, shared many happy years
  together before her death, and they raised three children, Arturo,
  Melba, and Melissa; Mr. Garza also cherished his nine grandchildren
  and three great-grandchildren, and he instilled in them and his
  children the values of hard work, humility, service, and
  perseverance; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his loved ones, his faith, and
  his country, Arturo Garza earned the lasting respect and admiration
  of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Arturo M. Garza and extend deepest condolences to the members of
  his family: to his children, Arturo Javier Garza, Melba Ileana
  Garza, and Melissa Garza Reyna; to his grandchildren, Omar, Teresa,
  and Claudia Alaniz, Laura Sierra, Ariana Acosta, Victoria Varville,
  Gabriella Reyna, and Samuel and Eliana Garza; to his
  great-grandchildren, Ava and Oliver Alaniz and Ruby Acosta; to his
  brother, Simon Garza Jr.; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Arturo
  Garza.
