H.R. No. 141
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
  the passing of nine-year-old Ellen Elizabeth Getten of Houston, who
  was tragically lost in the July 4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County;
  and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Jennifer Wilson Getten and Douglas
  Vandever Getten, Ellen Getten was born in Houston on June 7, 2016,
  and she was blessed with the companionship of an older sister,
  Gwynne; she also benefited from the love and support of an extended
  family that included her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and
  godparents; and
         WHEREAS, Ellen was a student at St. John's School, where she
  looked forward to seeing her teachers and classmates each day;
  outside of school, she played tennis, competed with the Mean Green
  swim team, and enjoyed time spent with her friends from
  St. Martin's Episcopal Church, The Church of St. John the Divine,
  the Houston Country Club, Camp Mystic, and her neighborhood; and
         WHEREAS, Known for her warm, heartfelt hugs, Ellen never met
  a stranger; she loved to dance, and her favorite foods included
  pasta with red sauce and gelato; she delighted in watching movies
  and taking trips with her family, and most of all, she enjoyed
  playing Roblox with her sister, who was her biggest cheerleader and
  best friend; and
         WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief,
  Ellen Getten was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her
  dear, and they will forever treasure the abundant happiness that
  she brought to them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Ellen Elizabeth Getten and extend deepest condolences to the
  members of her family: to her parents, Jennie and Doug Getten; to
  her sister, Gwynne Getten; to her grandparents, Jennifer and Trey
  Wilson and Nancy and Tom Getten; to her aunts and uncles, Abbie and
  Will Giraud, Walt Wilson, Megan and Ted Getten, and Liz and Chad
  Atwood; to her cousins, Charlie and Lucy Giraud, Ella and Max
  Getten, and Hobs, Lee, and Lucy Atwood; and to her many other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ellen
  Getten.
