R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas Dance Day is taking place on April 8, 2026, |
|
providing a fitting opportunity to celebrate the important role |
|
that dance plays in the cultural vitality of the Lone Star State; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Texas is home to a vibrant community of dancers, |
|
choreographers, instructors, dance companies, and students; these |
|
talented individuals bring the art of dance to studios and stages |
|
across the state, and through their work, they have captivated and |
|
inspired audiences near and far; and |
|
WHEREAS, There are ample opportunities to appreciate this |
|
powerful form of creative expression, from performances by dance |
|
companies such as the Houston Ballet, Ballet Austin, Texas Ballet |
|
Theater, and Corpus Christi Ballet, to shows by local schools and |
|
youth ensembles; opportunities to participate in dance are also |
|
widespread, and by pursuing their passion for the artform, people |
|
of all ages and backgrounds are able to showcase their strength, |
|
discipline, grace, and focus, while also building confidence; and |
|
WHEREAS, The art of dance has long served as an important |
|
means of entertainment and cultural enrichment, and it is a |
|
pleasure to join in applauding Texas dancers on this special |
|
occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby recognize April 8, 2026, as |
|
Texas Dance Day and extend sincere appreciation to all those who |
|
contribute to the advancement and appreciation of dance throughout |
|
the Lone Star State. |
