R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Scotty's House Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center |
|
in Bryan is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1995, Scotty's House honors the memory of |
|
Timothy Scott Linerode, a four-year-old boy who was tragically shot |
|
to death by his father after being abducted from a day-care center; |
|
committed to assisting children who have suffered abuse and |
|
neglect, the nonprofit provides a supportive and nurturing |
|
environment for youth referred to its care by law enforcement and |
|
Child Protective Services; and |
|
WHEREAS, The organization's dedicated staff works with CPS |
|
personnel, law enforcement, and other officials at all stages of |
|
the investigative process to help children achieve safety, healing, |
|
and justice; services provided at Scotty's House include counseling |
|
and advocacy, as well as forensic interviews and medical exams; |
|
moreover, the organization strives to strengthen families and to |
|
unite the community against child abuse; since opening its doors, |
|
Scotty's House has served more than 14,000 children from Brazos, |
|
Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington |
|
Counties; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past three decades, Scotty's House has made |
|
an immeasurable difference in the lives of some of the most |
|
vulnerable residents of the Brazos Valley, and this noteworthy |
|
milestone offers a fitting opportunity to recognize the |
|
organization for its commendable work; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 30th |
|
anniversary of Scotty's House Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center |
|
and extend to all those associated with the organization sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Scotty's House as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
