R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The State of Texas lost a renowned attorney and
  civic leader with the death of Susan Gay Morrison of Austin on July
  11, 2025, at the age of 67; and
         WHEREAS, A native of San Angelo, Susan Morrison was born to
  Eleanor and Herbert Morrison on February 14, 1958, and grew up
  sharing in the companionship of two siblings, Nancy and Richard;
  she graduated from San Angelo Central High School and continued her
  education at The University of Texas at Austin and Baylor Law
  School; while a student at UT, she worked with lawmakers and the
  League of Women Voters to amend the state constitution to allow for
  garnishment of wages of delinquent noncustodial parents, and voters
  overwhelmingly approved the amendment in 1983; she began her career
  as an assistant general counsel for the Texas Education Agency and
  served as an administrative law judge; after a long tenure in
  private practice, she became general counsel for the Texas School
  for the Blind and Visually Impaired; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Morrison was a member of numerous professional
  associations and held many leadership roles, including president of
  Texas Women Lawyers and the Travis County Women Lawyers'
  Association; moreover, she served on the State Bar's Grievance
  Committee for District 9, and she was a director of the Travis
  County Bar Association; among other accolades, she was named a Life
  Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; she benefited the wider
  community as chair of the Travis County Fee Dispute Committee and a
  member of such bodies as the City of Austin Ethics Review Commission
  and Mueller Airport Redevelopment Advisory Board; a former
  president of the board of Communities in Schools, she helped
  fundraise and advocate for services for at-risk students; she also
  served as an election judge and as membership co-chair for the
  Austin Area Board of the League of Women Voters; in addition, she
  was very active in the Kiwanis Club and served as membership chair;
  and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Morrison enjoyed the love
  and support of her husband of 20 years, John King, and she took
  great pride in her stepchildren, Jillian and Spencer; and
         WHEREAS, Although Susan Morrison's passing has brought great
  sorrow to those who loved her, her life was an inspiring example of
  the good that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Susan Gay Morrison and extend sincere condolences to all who
  mourn her passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Susan
  Morrison.
