R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Hays County Food Bank celebrated the grand opening |
|
|
of its new headquarters in San Marcos on August 27, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1984, Hays County Food Bank works to |
|
|
address hunger in the community; distributing mainly rescued and |
|
|
donated food, the organization reduces waste by keeping good food |
|
|
out of landfills, and it also offers nutrition education through |
|
|
partnerships with local schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The new distribution center will help Hays County |
|
|
Food Bank better meet the needs of its clients, with increased space |
|
|
for food storage and services as well as a new business model that |
|
|
allows visitors to select their own proteins, produce, and |
|
|
shelf-stable items in a market-style setting; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Hays County Food Bank |
|
|
has been a critical lifeline for local residents facing |
|
|
malnourishment, and its impressive new facility is sure to be an |
|
|
invaluable community resource for years to come; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the opening of |
|
|
the new Hays County Food Bank headquarters and extend to all those |
|
|
involved with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success with their important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the food bank as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
