SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  2025 Flood Victims
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the lives of the more than 130 people who perished
  tragically in the catastrophic flash flooding in the Lone Star
  State over the Fourth of July holiday weekend; and
         WHEREAS, Beginning on July 3, 2025, unprecedented rainfall
  in Central and West Texas caused massive flooding and destruction
  along many major waterways; the water levels of the Guadalupe
  River in Kerr County rose more than 27 feet in less than one hour,
  and thousands of residents in the area and in communities
  downstream were forced to evacuate their homes at a moment's
  notice and flee toward safety in the darkness of the night; and
         WHEREAS, As a result of the devastation, a state and federal
  disaster was declared and federal public assistance was approved
  for residents of Burnet, Coke, Concho, Edwards, Hamilton, Kendall,
  Kerr, Kimble, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Real,
  Reeves, San Saba, Schleicher, Sutton, Tom Green, Travis, and
  Williamson Counties; the tragic loss of life in the region included
  more than 100 individuals in Kerr County alone; family members and
  friends of victims are left to mourn the loss of their loved ones,
  among them many young children and the heroes who died while
  attempting to save others; and
         WHEREAS, As Texans move forward on the difficult path to
  recovery, it is important that we pay tribute to those who lost
  their lives and continue to offer heartfelt support to those
  coping with immeasurable loss; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby join Texans and citizens
  throughout the nation in honoring the lives lost during the 2025
  Texas flooding and extend sincere condolences to the victims'
  families and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor and in memory of the victims of the Fourth of July floods.
