SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Dr. Betty J. Reynard on her distinguished career in
  Texas higher education and more than a decade of exemplary
  leadership as president of Lamar State College--Port Arthur; and
         WHEREAS, An Ontario native, Betty Reynard earned her
  associate degree in dental hygiene and her bachelor's and
  master's degrees in education from Lamar University in Beaumont;
  she went on to earn a doctorate in higher education
  administration from the University of Houston, and she remained
  in the Lone Star State to shape a fulfilling and award-winning
  career as a devoted educator; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Reynard began her career in higher education
  in 1979 by serving as an instructor of dental hygiene at Lamar
  University; she distinguished herself for excellence as she
  transitioned to serve in administrative roles at the
  institution, and she rose through the ranks to become vice
  president of Academic Affairs and Workforce Technology at Lamar
  Institute of Technology; and
         WHEREAS, In 2014, Dr. Reynard stepped into her role as
  president of Lamar State College--Port Arthur, and her tireless
  dedication and visionary leadership have allowed the school to
  flourish throughout more than a decade of notable growth and
  success; she has guided the institution with diligence and
  unwavering commitment and has fostered an admirable culture of
  academic excellence and community engagement; and
         WHEREAS, Highly regarded in her field, Dr. Reynard has
  served as a board member and consultant for many professional and
  charitable organizations, and she is the current president of the
  American Technical Education Association; her numerous honors
  for her contributions to higher education include the Ben and
  Julie Rogers Community Service Award and the prestigious
  Pacesetter Award; and
         WHEREAS, An esteemed leader, Dr. Reynard has helped to
  make a positive impact in the lives of countless students,
  educators, and fellow staff and administrators at the school; she
  is an outstanding administrator and a respected member of the
  community, and it is truly fitting that she receive special
  recognition for her many contributions to excellence in higher
  education in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Betty J.
  Reynard on her exceptional achievements and service as president
  of Lamar State College--Port Arthur and extend to her best wishes
  for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
